12 November, 09:45 AM – 10:15 AM (CET)
Jos Delbeke was Director-General of the European Commission's DG Climate Action between 2010 and 2018. He was heavily involved in setting the EU’s climate and energy targets for 2020 and 2030, where he was a key player in developing legislation for the EU Emissions Trading System and the European Comission’s chief negotiator under the UNFCCC, among others. He is currently a Professor at KU Leuven and the European Investment Bank Chair on Climate Change Policy and International Carbon Markets through the European University Institute.
This short session, Jos will reflect on the past 15 years of domestic and international carbon markets and discuss the choices and challenges that lie ahead, including in the context of COVID recovery and net zero targets.
